Blackwing Volume 2 – The Light & Dark Pencil – Set of 12

The Blackwing2 is a tribute to the shift in art that occurred around 1973 due to cultural and political events. The US military had just began to remove itself from Vietnam which lead to mass uncertainty and a shift to darker moods. From this time came, Pink Floyd’s “The Dark SIde of the Moon” and the movie The Exorcist.

Following 1973, a new wave of art arose out of the darkness, trying to focus more on shining a light on the broken system. Which inspired things like Bob Marley’s Natty Dread and films like Chinatown.

Each pencil is designed with a cracked pattern of black over glow in the dark blue.Each pencil also includes Blackwing’s firmest graphite yet – a special 2X firm graphite formulated specially for this release.
